New Owners & Announcement

We’re proud to officially announce a brand-new chapter for Malkins Bank Golf Club. As of this month, the club is now under new management, led by the team behind Bar918, operating under our new long-term development vision: Project:Malkins.

This project is centred around one core belief — that Malkins Bank can, and should, be a thriving, member-focused, community-first club. A place that reflects the proud history of the course while offering modern facilities, better playing conditions, and a more enjoyable experience for both members and visitors.

What Is Project:Malkins?

Project:Malkins is a wide-ranging investment plan built around four key pillars:

  • Course Conditions – Replacing and repairing machinery, rejuvenating greens and tees, and delivering consistently higher standards of play.

  • IT Systems – New digital infrastructure that improves everything from tee bookings to competitions, member engagement, and future planning.

  • Membership Offerings – A more rewarding membership experience, with new benefits, discounts, input opportunities, and improved communication.

  • Aesthetic – Upgrading the visual identity of the course, from signage and pathways to the presentation of the tee boxes and clubhouse surroundings.

The full breakdown of the Project:Malkins plan can be downloaded from the homepage of our website.

Why Now?

If you’ve played the course recently, you’ll know Malkins Bank has been through a difficult period. Poor course maintenance, ineffective systems, and neglect have impacted the experience for golfers, staff, and visitors alike. As long-time supporters of the club, we’ve already been doing our best to help — but now, as official tenants, we’re able to take real control and drive improvement from the ground up.

What Comes First?

Our initial focus is on getting new machinery out onto the course. This will immediately help stabilise conditions and allow our greenkeeping team to follow a consistent and reliable maintenance schedule — something that wasn’t possible under previous management due to broken, outdated or missing equipment.

At the same time, we’re making rapid progress on upgrading the club’s infrastructure behind the scenes. The development of our new website, the launch of the Member Initiative, and the rollout of QR code functionality for ordering food and accessing key services are all well underway. We’re also in the process of implementing a completely new golf booking system, built to give both members and visitors a smoother, more modern experience from the first click to the first tee.

These improvements aren’t just cosmetic — they’re designed to make the club more functional, more connected, and more enjoyable for everyone who walks through our doors.

What Will Take Time?

We want to be honest: some things can’t happen overnight. Improving the greens and carrying out fairway seeding and tee box regeneration is heavily dependent on weather and growing seasons. Most of that work must wait until the October to January window to succeed long-term. We know conditions are not where they need to be — and we share your frustration — but please bear with us while we do things properly and in a sustainable way.

Join Us in Building the Future

We want Malkins Bank to be more than just a golf course. We see it as a hub for community, family, events, and great sport. We’re here, we’re invested, and we’re passionate about making this club something special again.

We’ll be sharing regular updates, results from our Member Initiative, and the ongoing rollout of Project:Malkins every two weeks — so stay tuned and thank you for being part of this exciting new chapter.

Let’s build something brilliant together.
